SIL to replace DVOR/DME for Banjul International Airport
Systems Interface (SIL) has been awarded a contract by the Gambian Civil Aviation Authority to design, supply, install and commission a replacement Doppler VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range (DVOR) and co-located Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) at Banjul International Airport, The Gambia.
SIL engineers will install a Selex 1150A DVOR and a Selex 1119A High Power DME. Both the DVOR and DME will have full Remote Control and Monitoring and Remote Maintenance and Monitoring systems.
The new DVOR/DME replaces the existing end-of-life equipment installed in early 2003 by SIL engineers. A new fully insulated and air-conditioned Fibreglass (GRP) equipment shelter, manufactured in the United Kingdom, will also be supplied and installed by SIL.
SIL will provide comprehensive Project Management services throughout the contract. Installation is scheduled to begin in early February 2024 and complete early April 2024.
