Liverpool Airport Voice Communication System

SIL to install Voice Communication System at Liverpool Airport

Systems Interface (SIL), based in the UK, has been contracted by Air Traffic Control Services Limited (ATCSL) to provide design, installation and integration services along with project management and safety-case provision for a new voice communications system (VCS) project at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The Airport chose Systems Interface to help them make the transition to IP-communications because of their design and installation experience along with their proven track record for delivering complex projects on time and in budget.

The system includes a Frequentis VCS and Contingency C-VCS to replace Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s legacy Frequentis system.

The VCS will include a total of 15 Controller Working Positions located in the Visual Control Room (VCR), the Approach Control Room (ACR) and the Engineering area, including contingency position equipment. The airport chose Frequentis based on the reliability of their previous Frequentis VCS and the excellent through life support provided. Frequentis will supply its VCS3020X for the main system and its next generation X10 VCS system for the backup, in a cloud native environment.

Designed for IP radio and telephone connectivity the Frequentis VCS sets the benchmark among controllers and is fully compliant to ED-137B EUROCAE VoIP standardisation. The flagship VCS3020X product is the leading solution to end-to-end IP implementations for approach and area control centres of any size, while the -X10 implements the multi redundancy concept including parallel audio delivery for every air/ground connection to guarantee uninterrupted audio.
