DME at Ireland West Airport IWAK

SIL complete installation of DME at Ireland West Airport

Systems Interface Ltd. (SIL), has completed a project in collaboration with Principal Contractor Tiernan Engineering Ltd. The project involved the supply, installation, and commissioning of an Indra Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) system at Ireland West Airport.

SIL replaced the outdated DME equipment with an advanced Indra LDB-103 Low Power DME with remote control and monitoring, a new mast and antenna, and the installation of a fully insulated and air-conditioned fibreglass equipment shelter.

A complete turnkey package was provided including project management, system design, equipment provision, installation and commissioning. SIL also provided the DME Safety Case, which secured approval from both the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).

SIL successfully delivered the replacement DME system within the allocated budget and approval for operational use was granted on 27 November 2023.
