SIL awarded Navaid Contract by the Irish Air Corps

Systems Interface Ltd. (SIL) has secured a contract awarded by the Irish Air Corps (IAC) on behalf of the Minister of Defence. The contract involves the Supply, Installation, and Commissioning of an Indra Doppler VHF Omnidirectional Range (DVOR) and 2 (two) Indra Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, Ireland.

SIL will install an Indra 1150A DVOR and an Indra LDB-103 DME, replacing the existing DVOR and DME installed in 2002, as well as a second Indra DME which will be co-located with the existing Instrument Landing System (ILS). The DVOR and both DMEs will use licenced encrypted radio links to provide full Remote Control and Monitoring. Additionally, SIL will conduct a refurbishment of the current DVOR counterpoise and provide a new fully insulated and air-conditioned fibreglass equipment shelter. These Navaid systems represent the most modern and reliable solutions available in the global market.

SIL will provide a complete turnkey service for the contract duration including project management, engineering design, installation, commissioning, training, testing and provision of flight calibration.

The Project team aim to conclude Q1 2025.
